I have liked the original
How The Grinch Stole Christmas ever since my parent's first read it
to me. The Animated movie only made the story better for me, as it captured
Dr. Seuss's style and imagination perfectly. This new version does a
good job, but it's not the same and not as enjoyable. If anyone could
play the Grinch, it would be Jim Carrey, and he does a fantastic job
of bringing a very cartoonish character to life. However, there are
too many changes to the story to keep the same feel of Dr. Seuss' work,
the majority of the ones that fall short are too modern in their refrences.
I laughed out loud at a number of points, and even at ones that were
out of style, but I constantly missed the metere of the original work.
The Grinch also failed to keep my attention throughout the movie. I
kept comparing it to the original. Now, I do this a lot outside the
theater, but when I'm doing during the movie, something's wrong. Over
all, I enjoyed it, and I think Max stole the show at several points,
but it could have been better. I'm glad my sister owns a copy of the
original, so I can borrow it now and then. :>

I give The Grinch a value of
being worth $5.00 to go see.
