Huzzah! The *Real* Gojira
is back in all of his B-movie glory! Okay, this isn't going to win any
awards, except maybe if the MST3K crew comes up with an awards show....But
I digress.
Godzilla 2000 was a lot of fun. It's classic Gozilla material: No CGI iguanas, just a guy in a cool rubber suit. They have updated Godzilla's look a bit, but nothing to complain about. The movie is even in Japanese and the dubbed in English. Speaking of which, the guy doing the English script has a fabulous sense of humor. At one point, Gozilla is marching into Tokyo, trashing buildings on the was as he is wont to do. They cut to a Japanese sushi chef comming out of his resturant and stretching and complaining about a long day. He looks up to see Godzilla comming his way and shouts out "Gott in Himmel!" I nearly lost it at that point, but that wasn't all. Not two minutes later, they hit you with the coup de grasse. Right after that scene, the alien space ship, (Bought from the set of Flight Of The Navigator.), lands on top of the building that houses the newspaper agency, crushing the upper story. They cut to the Editor in Cheif who shouts out "Great Ceaser's Ghost!" I really did loose it at that point, and was rolling in my seat. |

Godzilla 2000 is worth paying
$5.00 to go see.
Hey, it's a B-movie, even if it's a fun B-movie. |
